Eamon Ryan TD has announced that an additional €5 million will be made available for litter prevention and cleaning campaigns

Eamon Ryan TD has announced that an additional €5 million will be made available for litter prevention and cleaning campaigns. Part of this campaign will involve an increase in public bins to encourage people to dispose of their rubbish. This announcement came following the release of the 2020 National Litter Pollution Monitoring System Results, which identified cigarette litter, packaging litter, food-related litter and plastic litter to be the main causes of litter in our communities. We think it would be great to see on-street bins provided for the segregation of recyclables, non-recyclables and compostables to encourage source segregation in public areas – hopefully the plan will include this.   For information on waste management, contact our team or visit our website
